Will my handwritten signature show up for people who don’t use Pennapost?
Yes. It travels as a small, crisp image under your sign-off, with your typed name beside it for mail apps that hide images. Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail users see it exactly as you drew it. You don’t need to ask anyone to install anything.
Can someone copy my signature from an email I sent?
They can save the picture, as they could photograph a letter. What they can’t copy is the seal. Every message you send carries a cryptographic seal tied to your address, and a forged message with a pasted signature arrives without it. Pennapost, Gmail and Outlook can all tell the difference.
What does the seal actually protect me from?
Impersonation. On your outgoing mail it proves the message really left your account and wasn’t altered on the way. On incoming mail it catches the lookalikes: “n0rthbank” with a zero, a colleague’s name on a stranger’s address, an invoice that never came from your supplier. Those are marked and moved to Suspicious before you open them.
How long does ink stay wet, and can I change it?
Five seconds on Pencil. Fountain and Press let you set anything from 5 to 30 seconds in Settings → Sending (the card above dries in ten). While a message is wet you can smudge it back to your drafts or blot it to send at once. Once it’s dry, it’s delivered.
Does my letterhead survive Gmail, Outlook and phones?
It does. Letterheads are built from simple, email-safe layouts, so they don’t collapse in Outlook or turn into an attachment in Gmail. On a phone they shrink neatly to the width of the screen. If someone reads in plain text, they get your name and address as a clean header instead.
Is Pencil really free, with no ads?
Free for good, not a trial. One @pennapost.com address, 10 GB, your handwritten signature and a seal on every message. It’s paid for by the people on Fountain and Press, so there are no ads, no sponsored messages and nothing sold about you.
Can I bring my old email and keep my contacts?
Yes. Import from Gmail, Outlook or iCloud in a few clicks; mail, folders and contacts come across in the background while you keep writing. Forward your old address here and nothing slips through while you settle in.
Where is my mail kept, and who can read it?
Only in the EU, in Florence and Frankfurt, encrypted in transit and at rest. Your mail is processed to deliver it, store it and keep spam out, and for nothing else. Spy pixels are stripped before a message opens, so senders can’t tell when, or whether, you read it.
